Friends + Sunshine + Inner Wisdom = Happiness

A Note From Sara

You cannot beat a sunny spring day! I’m writing this with toes in the grass and the sun on my shoulders from my backyard in Eau Claire, Wisconsin! Raja – our beagle/coonhound mix – is LOVING it too! For her it doesn’t get much better than chasing squirrels and making sure all the neighbors know that this is HER yard. It’s tough being a dog at our home. Real tough. 😉

And this time in the sun is exactly what I needed! It’s been a crazy, CRAZY, few months here at the Hefty Household because my side of the family is going through some major STUFF right now. And I was letting their stuff dominate MY life. I was focusing on them and the past, and it was bringing me down. Hard. So I’ve been working on forgiving, letting it go, and getting back to my life and what makes me happy. (YAY, sunshine!)

Life’s reminded me that it’s important to recognize what one can and cannot control. I can control where I spend my time, what I think about, and whom I chose to be close to. It’s said that we’re a combination of the five people we spend the most time with. And if, over the past few months, I’ve learned nothing else, I’ve learned for the sake of my happiness and my health to pick my five carefully! The hubby’s definitely one of my five. Now, to go out in the world and connect with the other four…

Much love,
~

Featured Article: Inner Wisdom or Diets

You can’t turn on the TV, drive down the road or go to a party without being confronted with America’s hottest obsession: weight. Diets are a billion-dollar industry; companies spend millions and millions luring you to try the latest diet (low carb, high protein, low fat, no fat, you name it) with promises that this will (finally!) be the solution—your shortcut to a thinner body. Advertising efforts also deeply affect our children, who develop distorted body images and are often on diets as early as nine or 10 years of age.
