Special Announcement: I’m going pro!
Ladies and gentlemen, I am becoming a professional!
On Wednesday of last week I discovered the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) through Amanda Stumpe, whom I was introduced to via Facebook courtesy of our good mutual friend, Derek Hagen. We were introduced because she had started a group on Facebook for the health and nutrition coaching she is learning at IIN. I was immediately fascinated and headed over to IIN’s website for more info.
Hours and hours later – I was literally browsing the site until 4 a.m. – I knew I’d found my program, my career path, my launching pad. Several hours later (during regular business hours on Thursday), I called admissions and enrolled! My classes officially start September 12th! Between now and then, I’m working through the fundamental coursework which is preparing me for the classwork. It is beyond amazing!
Officially, I am training at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition to become a Certified Holistic Health Coach. The program is accredited by SUNY Purchase College and board certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I’ll be learning from the world’s leading nutrition experts, including: Dr. Andrew Weil, Deepak Chopra, David Wolfe, Dr. David Katz, Dr. Barry Sears, and Joy Bauer, to name a few. And I am SO excited!
I’ll be learning about more than 100 different diets and be able to coach people on which one(s) will work the best for their lifestyle. Plus, I’ll be learning about what the school calls “primary nutrition” – our relationships, careers, physical activity, and spirituality, and how these areas of our lives interact with our “secondary nutrition” – what we actually eat. They say, “Sometimes we are fed not by food but by the energy in our lives.” How very, very true.
And in following Amanda’s lead, I’ve created a Facebook group to share what I’m learning at IIN as well! It’s going to be an exciting adventure and I want you to join my Facebook group – Sara Hefty, Holistic Health Coaching – so we can experience it together!
